Treatment for Rosacea (adult acne)
We’re pleased to offer a skin treatment using multiple laser wavelengths to eliminate and reduce adverse skin changes that can occur with rosacea.
What are the benefits?
Laser treatments are ideal for eliminating a variety of problems including:
Age spots/sun spots
Large pores
Pigmentation variations
Broken capillaries/telangtasia
How does it work?
Laser light is absorbed by pigmented areas where it is converted to heat, causing a breakup in the pigment. In broken capillaries, the laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in the blood and collapses the unwanted blood vessel. The laser stimulates collagen growth, which may improve the texture and appearance of the skin.
What can I expect during the treatment?
You will start by washing face to have completely clean skin. Then a cooling gel is applied to face. Specific lesions may be treated first, and then areas of concern are treated by two different lasers. You may experience a stinging or warming sensation during the treatment, which resolves immediately after the treatment is over. The whole process generally takes less than one hour.
What should I expect after the procedure?
Immediately following the procedure you may experience some redness, swelling and/or darkening of pigmented areas. The redness and swelling usually dissipate within one to three days; however darkened pigmentation may persist and peel lightly for up to one week. Cosmetics may be applied to the treatment area immediately after. It is extremely important to apply a moisturizer with SPF45 sunscreen daily and avoid sun exposure to prevent additional sun damage.
When will I see results?
Effects are cumulative. After the first treatment you will see improvements to broken capillaries, small facial veins, and some pigmented areas within a few days. Some darker pigmented areas can take several treatments to fade or disappear. The laser treatments are not a cure for the underlying cause of rosacea, and you may need to continue your medical treatments.
How often can I have it done?
All treatments are scheduled one month apart. You may require 1-4 treatments depending on your specific needs.
