What are the benefits?
Our advanced technology minimizes the redness and bruising normally associated with traditional treatments. Best of all, our technology allows us to treat people of any ethnic origin and skin type including tanned skin.

How does the treatment work?
The Gemini laser produces a 1064nm wavelength that is highly absorbed by the blood in a vein or capillary.  The surrounding skin is almost completely transparent to this wave length, therefore, the laser beam passes through the skin and penetrates the targeted vessel. Then, the laser energy heats up and coagulates blood inside the vessel and the walls collapse and seal. These vessels later dissolve within the body.

The laser energy is delivered through a hand-held device with a cooling tip. The cooling tip provides additional safety and comfort during the treatment by lowering the thermal effect on your skin surface.

What can I expect during the treatment?
Most treatments will take between 30-60 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated. You may experience a stinging sensation during the treatment, which resolves immediately after the treatment is over. In most cases, you may be offered topical anesthetic cream, which may eliminate much of the discomfort associated with the treatment.  These prescribed topical anesthetics should be applied 30-45 minutes before your treatment time to allow for medication absorption.

What should I expect after the procedure?
Immediately following the procedure you may experience some redness and swelling in the treated area. These effects usually dissipate within one to three days. Occasionally, you may experience bruising over the treated area.  This discoloration is temporary, and will resolve within weeks. 
The post-operative treatment regime may include wearing pressure hose, avoiding medication containing aspirin and wearing sunscreen. Make sure to discuss these options with your laser practitioner prior to the treatment.

When will you see results?
The treated vessels will either dramatically fade, turning from blue and purple into light red during the treatment, or completely disappear.  The remaining discoloration of the treated vessels will gradually disappear as the healing process occurs, which may take anywhere between 6 and 12 weeks depending on the size of the veins.

How often can you have it done?
Most patients see excellent improvement after just two treatments. Everyone responds differently to treatments, with some needing only one treatment and others requiring a third treatment. You can optimize your results by closely following the post treatment instructions. The usual treatment interval is eight weeks.  However, the development of new veins cannot be prevented. If your body tends to develop vascular lesions you will most likely come back for additional treatments.
